WHEELS 2 WANDER
Behind the Blog
A little bit about me...
This is the boring bit about the Author that most people will skip - if you made it here I'm sorry, I won't be offended if you'd rather click on by!

But just in case you are interested my name is Kyrby Brown and, at this exact moment in February 2024 I am 28 years old. I live with a disability called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita, as the name suggests I was born with my disability and it will remain stable for much of my life. Arthrogryposis means 'curved joints', I have Amyoplasia which means I have curved joints in all four limbs and my extremities.

I have always enjoyed an Adventure and for much of my early twenties I was selected to be a member of the Para Dressage Development Squad for Team GBR. This gave me an acute appreciation of the power of Para Sport and made physical activity an essential part of my life. After leaving the squads at the end of 2020 I was given an amazing opportunity to work within the world of Adaptive Sports. I worked for a company called Quest 88 whose core ethos was to enable freedom through movement via the distribution of adaptive sports equipment and mobility aids. In 2022 Quest sadly closed and I decided to start my own business to continue doing what I loved.

Whilst my work is very relevant to my life experiences it is not core to the purpose of this blog. My work has opened doors for me and the people I work with every day have inspired a hunger within me to keeping breaking down barriers. Through this blog I hope to share stories of my adventures and show others that, with a creative mind and a bit of determination, you can achieve more than you could believe.
Now in 2024 I am due to start a whole new adventure, embarking on my Churchill Fellowship. I want to use the knowledge I have gained to educate others and improve provision of adaptive recreation across the UK.
