This is going to be a much shorter blog as yesterday mostly consisted of a flight from NYC to Colorado. The flight itself was pretty good, we made ourselves known to the Delta team on arrival and I explained how to operate and safely stow my chair. They then actually upgraded us to Comfort + which was quite nice as it ordered a little more legroom. The awkward overhang in front of us did lead to some tricky standing transfers as the armrests were fixed so I couldn’t slide in and out easily.
The flight was pretty ok, we had a fair bit of turbulence or ‘rough air’ as they call it here, which was fine. Landing was a wee bit bumpy with high winds in Denver.
The first thing I noticed about Denver was the lack of tall buildings, completely different than both Phoenix and New York. We met out rental car company ‘Mobilityworks’ in the airport car park and were pleased to see we had been allotted a rather nice Dodge Grand Caravan with side access ramp. We haven’t settled on a name yet but it’s sure to come in the days ahead.
After that we drove 25 minutes to our hotel, I was pleased to see we had been allocated an accessible room with a shower, as requested! I shouldn’t be so pleased and surprised but the road so far has proven this a rarity. We made good is of the hotel pool and spa and got ourselves some good food and sleep ready for some outdoor adventuring.
I didn’t take any images so here’s one on the interior of Connie the plane at the TWA - air travel was a little more spacious back then!
