Life Rolls On

Hello everyone, I’m not too good at this whole continuous posting thing. I have failed to write a blog since returning from America in May, sorry about that 😳 please stick with me whilst I frantically try to get myself back on track!

If you haven’t caught up yet, my US adventure is available for all to read at their leisure through my daily blogs. It truly was an incredible journey that I have had the pleasure of re-living whilst reporting it, with the fascinating value of hindsight.

The last couple of months have been incredibly busy with a mixture of work opportunities and further travel to Copenhagen with the England Frame Running team. I have spent a good deal of time creating my report of my experiences in the USA, expanding on some of the ideas and learning I conducted whilst travelling. It has been an excellent exercise in both reflection and introspection whilst also exploring the bigger picture regarding adaptive recreation in the UK at the current time.

I have also been enjoying spending some time back at home, something that I feel I appreciate a lot more now after spending so much time away this year. Ironically I am just about to put my current property on the market in the search for a more accessible property with a garden! I'll keep you updated on this search, I have already been bemused by estate agents understanding of the term 'accessible'.

Copenhagen turned out to be a truly incredible trip, I was so proud to see Frame Running representation from all nations within the United Kingdom. Many of the runners are people who I know through the industry and, in many cases, I worked with them to design their frames. I am so proud of the small part I played and continue to play in the development of Frame Running in the UK. The whole event had an incredible community feel to it and camaraderie that I have missed previously in my professional sports background. This just serves to demonstrate the importance of grassroots sport and the power of shared lived experience when forming long-lasting friendships and connections.

In my minds eye, I can’t help but think what’s next? After feeling like I’ve been moving at 100 mph I am struggling to adjust to the monotony of the day-to-day, even if it’s not that monotonous! I have much to be thankful for this year and feel it’s now important to take the time to realign my ducks before jumping into the next big adventure.

My break from blogging was an evasion of potential burnout, but I now feel ready to begin recording life again. I have lots of cool stuff on the horizon, including a trip to Paris to support the Paralympics!

I will also be publishing my report in the coming weeks, so please look out for that if you are at all interested in adaptive recreation.
